Heron Hall students celebrate GCSE exam success in 2026

Students at Heron Hall Academy are celebrating their GCSE results, with particular successes in English, maths, science, languages, humanities and business.

Some of the school’s strongest achievements also came in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. There were notable results in French and Spanish, Geography, History and Business Studies.

Improving every year

The school is particularly pleased to have seen clear year-on-year improvement across several key subjects. Overall attainment increased, a higher proportion of students secured important grades in English and maths, and stronger outcomes were recorded across a range of subjects.

This improvement reflects the commitment and hard work shown by students across the year group, the dedication of their teachers and staff, and Heron Hall’s determination to continue raising standards year on year.

David Maytham, Headteacher of Heron Hall Academy, said:

 “GCSE results day is an important moment for our young people. We are proud of the commitment and determination shown by our Year 11 students, and I want to thank our teachers, staff and families for the care and support they have provided.
 “We are particularly pleased to see further improvement in results in key areas – that is the sign of an ambitious school.  This reflects the work taking place across Heron Hall and strengthens our determination to keep raising expectations, improving teaching and helping every student achieve their potential.”

Staff are now supporting students as they prepare for Heron Hall Sixth Form, college, apprenticeships and other opportunities.
