Science Week pushes boundaries at Heron Hall Academy

Students have been taking part in a series of hands-on activities designed to strengthen understanding and apply scientific thinking in practical ways.

Across the week, students explored sustainability through a recycling fashion workshop, transforming newspaper into wearable designs, and investigated scientific reactions through an invisible ink experiment,

revealing hidden messages using heat.

Headteacher Mr Maytham spent time working alongside students and staff during the week, joining sessions and discussing the thinking behind the experiments.

His message was clear – science at Heron Hall is not about passive learning, but about questioning, testing and understanding the world in a deeper way.

Experiences such as these support students in developing analytical skills, creativity and confidence in applying scientific ideas beyond the classroom.
