Book Review: The Novice by Taran Matharu

“An incredible magical book filled with stories of friendship and wars!”

The book is set in a mystical land filed with humans, dwarves, elves, orcs and magical demons.

The main characters are:
Fletcher: a startled young boy who recently found out his royal heritage and ability to summon.
Othello: a strong dwarf who has to face racism to his kind despite holding back vigorous urges to fight back.
Sylva: an unpredictable elf who also faces discrimination and stands up for herself no matter the consequences.
Arcturus: A sharp captain in the army that stops at nothing to protect his friends.

The book has an original feel and has quick punchy chapters.

It is a fantasy adventure book for young adults and intelligent kids.

I found the book extremely entertaining due to the intense battles and amazing description of the environment and adventures.

This book is the first of the Summoner trilogy.

The series is so thrilling! It makes you think deeply about your own world as well as transporting you to their world, keeping you on the edge of your seat.

They are brilliant on raising matters of race and class.

Personally, I believe that this book is made for teens and older children.

It gives you valuable life skills and will take you to another world.
